About  20-30 years ago, the Arthur Amish community recognized that they were facing increasingly expensive land costs to continue their farming way of life.  They resolved at that time to adopt woodworking as an acceptable alternative to farming to create jobs and keep their people employed. They also took the stance that they would not boast of their craft through advertising, but instead let the quality of their work speak for itself and let word of mouth be their marketing tool. This adoption of top quality has helped to make the Arthur Amish community into the largest hand crafted oak furniture producing area in the country. 

Our Wood Stores: Our niche is that we represent many of the Arthur Amish custom woodshops to you, the public, and thus help to allow them to limit their contact with the outside world. We started our store when, aware of our retail and woodworking background, a number of Amish shops expressed a need to us for an "in town" showroom which they were not able to provide. While now a few shops have their own showrooms, many still feel that they would rather keep some distance from the general public. Helping them keep a separation, plus our ability to assist you with design ideas that make your items truly custom pieces, sets us apart.

In our main store, we feature locally Amish produced, quality custom oak furniture. While we'd be happy to help you select or design an heirloom piece of furniture and ship it to you, we also thought that you might be interested here in smaller, table top items which make wonderful, functional home accents, and even greater gifts. All are Arthur Amish made and come with our unconditional guarantee of satisfaction.

We encourage people to visit us at our store in downtown Arthur in order to get a view of the quality custom wood craftsmanship.  It gives people the chance to see furniture made in cherry, hickory, oak, and maple in a wide variety of stain colors.  Our showroom features different styles of tables, chairs, hutches, bedroom, living room, and office furniture.  We also encourage people to bring in their own drawings or sketches of custom furniture that they would like built.  We can custom build furniture in many styles including Mission, Country, Queen Anne, Shaker, and Victorian.

Us Personally: Our family members have been retailers on main street in Arthur for three generations. We've been successfully serving the public in a number of retail areas over these years and more specifically have been involved in the Arthur wood industry since 1970.  We have an Arthur history that we are proud of.
